I've been watching my money lately...like, really watching every penny. This past year I went from a post-grad internship to a part-time and then a full-time job....and then back to a part time job...in retail.
Ignoring most everybody's opinion I worked for a start-up in downtown Cincy. It was exactly what I was looking for as a burnt out journalism student. Essentially it felt like a dream job--I did some design work, PR, editorial work, etc., etc. Without giving too much unnecessary detail, I was let go during a shaky time at the company.
Although it was a dramatic time, I realized it probably was my time to go. I was getting lost in someone else's dream. So, this year, it's time to redefine my own dreams!
However, I still have to pay the bills-- hence me running back to retail for holiday hours.
I opted for a two piece lace dress this year, almost exactly like the image below. It is still trendy with the crop top, but the lace skirt will outlast any fad. Plus, the crop top pairs with boyfriend jeans and high waist shorts for a springtime concert look.
The second option is a glitzy short or glitzy top. I got inspired by Fox's New Girl, Jess and her take on a "shot girl" outfit. (Perhaps I'm also feeling the same way she did when she lost her job and went to work at the Taco Hut). Image Credit via Acculturated
So, I went for high-waisted shorts. Again, I'm sure if you store those away they will come in handy for some costume party. Luckily, you also have the rest of the outfit to reuse in your everyday closet!
